Please wait… this "namu" or tree is in the process of regeneration. From its deep roots—life is sprouting again after loss—signs that recovery is possible after trauma. A routine occurence in nature. Nothing is final.

I help people slow down, reflect deeply about themselves, to know what’s really going on behind everyday patterns and behaviors. Often we don’t make time for that and can get stuck on autopilot, coping with things the best we can, but not fully aware or present with ourselves and those around us. Unaddressed, this can take a toll on our relationships and our wellbeing.

Sometimes we hold inside a collection of past, unresolved experiences that can “show up” or leak into aspects of present daily life. This can be unpacked and you don’t have to figure it out on your own. As the saying goes, “it takes people to make people sick and people to make people well.” My goal is to be on the side of helping people find emotional, relational, and mental wellness.

Rather than another quick fix or surface level change, going beneath the surface to the underlying root causes behind symptoms, behaviors and coping strategies.

therapy questions

therapy questions

What types of therapy do you offer?

We provide teen 14+ and adult therapy services. We believe in depth rather than breadth of competence keeping our scope only to individual therapy (i.e. not including couples or early children ages) leads to greater expertise. We specialize in the area of stress management, emotional regulation, trauma work, and treatment of anxiety and depression.

What format do you provide therapy sessions?

We provide telehealth video sessions through HIPAA compliant, confidential platform. We also provide in-person "walk and talk" therapy in Rockville, Maryland.

Which states do you work in?

I am licensed and can see clients throughout the state of Maryland. Due state jursidiction laws, I cannot work with those residing in other states.

How do I book a session?

You can book a session by filling out a HIPAA compliant form by clicking the "Let's Talk" button. You can also directly ask questions at john@rootednamucounseling.com

Why don't you take insurance?

Insurance companies often do not work in the interest of the client or provider. There is the added benefit of not having your protected private health information subject to review or approval from insurance providers. You may still be able to get reimbursement for sessions as an out-network provider by providing a superbill.
