About me

John-Lee Choi, LCPC

As a client first, and then as a therapist, I am someone who knows what good therapy can do.

My view is that deep lasting growth comes from addressing underlying root causes, meaning that in working together we explore unprocessed emotions and experiences, face what we've been avoiding, and move toward shame anger and pain that binds us.

I often help perfectionists and people pleasers, those stuck in patterns of overfunctioning or need for control. Those with anxiety and panic, depression and bipolar, trauma, and loss of loved ones.

I understand the deep challenges with figuring this out on your own, and that is the reason I believe in the co-creation and collaboration process that happens in therapy. I work at your pace to gain emotional, relational, mental wellbeing.

I do this in a non-pathologizing way using one of the fastest growing evidenced based practices Internal Family Systems (IFS) that I have been formally trained in.

Some key therapy terms in how I approach my work: Psychodynamic, Rogerian, Process-Oriented, Attachment focused.
